Manual Handling (MH) training

General lifting technique awareness

Manual handling causes over a third of all workplace injuries. These include work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) such as pain and injuries to arms, legs and joints, and repetitive strain injuries of various sorts. There is a duty on both the employee and the employer to ensure safe handling techniques are carried out.

Course content:

  • Understand legislation relating to manual handling
  • Understand basic anatomy of the spine
  • Identify injuries caused by unsafe manual handling techniques
  • Be aware of the principles of safer handling
  • Develop safer handling techniques
  • Understand the principles of risk assessment
